AI in Student Recruitment: Faster Enrolments, Done Responsibly
19 June 2026 • Online webinar • Hosted by Enrola
Around 65 people joined Jo Thomas, CEO and Founder of Enrola, and Syed Mosawi, Founder of Responsible AI Australia, on 19 June 2026 for a practical one hour session on bringing AI into student recruitment without putting compliance at risk.
The conversation stayed deliberately practical. Rather than a sweeping survey of everything AI can do, it focused on a few specific problems education providers actually face in the enquiry to enrolment journey, and how to solve them responsibly.
Not all AI is the same
A central theme was that the single word AI covers very different tools. General purpose chatbots are cheap and easy to reach for, but for a defined job like student recruitment the return tends to come from purpose built systems: one job, done brilliantly, with the guardrails designed in from the start rather than bolted on afterwards.
That framing matters for compliance as much as conversion. When a tool is built for a specific task, its behaviour is easier to test, monitor and keep within the rules, so faster follow-up never comes at the cost of student trust.

What comes next
Off the back of the response, Enrola is considering a series of hands on workshops for people working in marketing, admissions and student recruitment, focused on automating the repetitive work so teams can spend more time on the parts that genuinely need a human.
For Responsible AI Australia, the session continued a consistent theme: speed and responsibility are not in tension. The providers that win with AI in student recruitment will be the ones that put guardrails in place from day one, so faster follow-up never comes at the cost of student trust or regulatory compliance.
